I just wanted to complain about washing cloth diapers for a moment. By the time I got around to this last batch of dirty diapers it had been too long. I keep a pail outside the laundry room door and it smells so bad!!! The smell is an overwhelming nose piercing pee and poop smell, but added to that is two weeks of stewing together in a warm pail. At least it has not been hot the last 2 weeks, oh wait... Anyway my laundry room reeks (sp?) now and it is nasty.
I know it is worth it, but on mornings like today when I was gagging I did wonder.

Be strong my friend, you are doing a good thing! Miss you
saving the workd 1 gag at a time!
You mos def have to stay on top of those things. Oxyclean (the liquid kind)works really well to get any residual stinkiness out.
I gag at fresh poop gdiapers as I put them in the toilet. I remember that with Aggie. Nasty. The Oxiclean works. I did it.
My secret was to swish and rinse once in the toilet (I know, it sounds gross but that was what my mom taught me) then wring out. Then the choice is either to soak in a pail of pine sol water, or vinegar water, do do not soak at all. Yep. just let them dry out in a pail with the lid slightly askew so that there is no moisture buildup. (The y don't smell bad because the horrible smell comes mostly from the anaerobic bacteria). The day you do the diapers, you wash them in really hot water the way you normally do, and then hang them to dry in the sun. ......
And have you tried the wool diaper covers? They are the absolute best. They are naturally waterproof but breathable so no diaper rash.
Wow, I almost thew-up yesterday flushing a poopie g-diaper. I'm not ready for cloth yet. I think I would have thrown away the whole pale of poopie diapers and started over fresh. Thus defeating the purpose of using cloth diapers.
Ok, so I have been spying on your blog. I am from IN and we recently adopted our daughter, Anara, from Kyrg. Last night I stayed up late inspired by your clean house post and today I am happy to be encouraged by your dedication to cloth diapering. Right now I am looking at a diaper that was left too long and has black mold ;) Nothing else to say I guess - thanks for adopting and for blogging!
My husband and I are both from Ft. Wayne too. What a small world!!!
Do you have one of those toilet sprayer thingies? That made a world of difference for me too. Tricks of the trade baby!
Hey girl! Thanks for commenting on my blog!
What kind of diapers do you use?
I tried gdiapers and did NOT like them. Any other ones you recomend? HOpefully we won't need them after next summer!!! yippee!!
