Before baby (thanks emily for the pics!!)
After. Moses coming home!
( I don't know how to flip the picture and I am too tired to figure it out!)
So as most of you know Moses came into this world one week ago today!
What an experience!!!
So so so thankful I got to experience giving birth, but as of now I do not want to do it again!
My water broke last Sunday afternoon, Dan raced home and we took off for the hospital.
It was a long 12 hours, which I hear is not too bad for a first birth.
Had pitocin to help push my labor along, which make the contractions really hard!
The pain was unreal, and just when we were ready to give in and get the epidural I was finally at 8 centimeters! I was really out of it because I got some Demoral which did nothing for the pain but put me into a state of deliriousness (is that a word?)
I would feel like I was in a drugged out dream state for the one minute in between contractions, then the pain would start again and I was completely aware of everything. It was the weirdest thing I have ever been through.
Finally After pushing for about 45 minutes or an hour Moses flew into this crazy world!
I am thankful I got to do a natural birth and everything went well since this will most likely be my one and only time giving birth!
So far we are surviving, on little to no sleep and the energy of the kids.
They are adjusting to having a baby, I would not call it a smooth transition but it will get there! My mom stayed for a week and a half and literally cleaned my house top to bottom and took care of the kids the whole time!
My dad, sister and nephews came up this weekend and helped us cope with a family of 3! Thanks for everything you guys, the house feels quiet (if that is possible) without you!
I remember feeling overwhelmed when Zeke came home from the hospital, and now I think oh how nice it would be to recover with just one! Just the exhaustion of giving birth and recovery is crazy, plus trying to nurse and sleep and take care of 2 kids, and bills and a house to clean. I applaud my friends with 3 or more kids!
So this has been my life for the last week, luckily Dan is good at keeping everyone up to date since I can barely stay awake to type this!
Thanks for all the love and support!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE that first picture of you & dan.
miss you friend.
congrats again!!!
You did it Alyssa! Hooray and way to go! Moses is beautiful. I've heard of people having bad reactions to demorral and staidal (sp?) - yuck! But you got through it and now you just have to get through the next few weeks of sleep deprivation - and with two other little ones too - my goodness. But you can do it, you are a strong woman with an amazing God and husband to back you up! Congratulations!
I'll be praying energy and strength over you, my dear. Hang in there. Though it sounds like you are handling it amazingly already.
All joking aside, you're my hero. I love you and I'm so glad that there is another Lance baby to tickle, wrestle with, read with, etc. We're pretty fond of all Lance children.
Congrats Alyssa! Those pictures that Em took are amazing (of course!).
I'm happy that you were able to do a natural birth but after reading this I'm a little nervous about my own natural birth plans. :)
Moses is adorable and I can't wait to meet him. I will pray that you will have strength and that you will get supernatural rest in the upcoming weeks.
Moses is so cute Alyssa. That totally made my night to see his picture before I stumble into bed. So looking forward to meeting him and seeing YOU! Try and sleep my friend...
Good job...you did it! I was praying for you last night and just praying that God would give you the strength for this crazy adjustment period. I am sure that you are doing awesome.
MIss you so much! Moses is gorgeous!
I love the pics and Moses is absolutely adorable!!! I want to hold him! Congratulations! It is amazing how the painful parts of childbirth will start to fade over time, but for now, they are etched very clearly in your mind. I will be praying for you to get rest and not expect too much of yourself right now. It will get better and just take it a day at a time right now!
Wow, I am really impressed. I am pretty sure that I couldn't form thoughts let alone type for weeks. Moses is adorable. Also those pics. of you guys are so great. Amanda
You are such a trooper Alyssa. Just hang in for a couple more weeks. It gets easier.
Congratulations Alyssa and Dan!!
I am incredibly happy for both of you...you have a beautiful family!! Alyssa, I remember thinking a long time ago that you would be an amazing mom because of the way you took care of us little cousins. And voila!! So it is:-)
God bless,
~Heidi
